Advanced Intermediate to Expert
**Training will begin as soon as the mountain opens in Mid December
The Core Freestyle Team emphasizes having fun through a safe progression of fundamental skills and tricks. Under the leadership of Coach Konrad Mitchel, each athlete is encouraged to learn and grow. This program is open to children from ages 10 to 17. Athletes must be advanced intermediate skiers who want to learn to shred. Skiers should be able to comfortably ski the entire mountain, including black diamond trails. Skiers do not need to know how to jump, although they should have a desire to learn.
The Freestyle Team works on developing skills in the air, on the snow, on jibs (rails and boxes) and in the moguls. We also use the whole mountain as our playground and will actively take advantage of a powder day when we are blessed to have one. We use our on-site trampoline to safely learn new tricks before taking them to snow and have built in video analysis time to help athletes learn. It is NOT necessary to compete to be a part of this program, but it is encouraged. It is our belief that through competition we learn more about ourselves and often are motivated to excel.
The coaches and athletes will be scheduled to participate in at least 3 USSA ‘B’ events, including one that is hosted at our home mountain, Whaleback. All athletes who participate are required to obtain a USSA membership.
Athletes are encouraged to also register for our dryland training program. Please note, this is a seperate registration.

Note: athletes and parents may choose to participate in USASA sanctioned events on a case by case basis. Often athletes and parents choose to attend these events but please note that Core Team coaching staff may not be present. Addiitonally, a seperate USASA membership is required.
