Our popular freestyle event, WhaleJam, is coming up this weekend, so a lot has to happen this week to pull it off. WhaleJam is a 3 day freestyle event with Aerials on Friday evening, Moguls on Saturday, and Slopestyle on Sunday. Athletes wishing to participate in this event have to be members of USSA. If this is your first year of USSA, you can register as a Rookie to save some money. Once you are a USSA member you have to register for our event on easternfreestyle.org Both USSA and Eastern Freestyle have a lot of information about competitive skiing and are excellent resources for parents to inform themselves about this competitive sports world.
We also have to prepare the mountain for these events which means that the next several days are going to be packed full of work to get all three courses built and ready. Tuesday we need people on snow to ski in moguls on Lower Spout. Thursday we will focus on finishing the air site at the bottom of Blowhole which means a lot of shovel work and chopping the landing. At some point we will be working on the terrain park, but that requires more coordination with the mountain and the groomer. Stay tuned for those details. If you haven't signed up as a volunteer for this weekend please do so and participate in this great annual event.
